Barely There er en koreografisk undersøgelse af kroppens forhold til rummets forhåndenværende objekter, såsom stole, bolde og gymnastikredskaber udover musikken samt bevægelser og billeder. Barely There er en devised solo af Denise Lim med en personlig fortælling om at genoverveje og -forhandle sit forhold til dansen. Det eksperimenterende værk, inspireret af Denise Lims egne vilkår som danser og koreograf, spørger til, hvordan éns virke kan involvere mange aktiviteter på én gang. Barely There diskuterer, hvordan omgivelser og omstændigheder får konsekvenser for et værks arbejdsproces og tilblivelse.
Denise Lim er født og uddannet danser og koreograf i Singapore samt fra Den Danske Scenekunstskole. I 2019 modtog hun et danceWEB-stipendium som en del af ImPulsTanz i Wien. Denise har blandt andre arbejdet med Ingri Fiksdal (NO), Tina Tarpgaard (DK) og Alix Eynaudi (FR/AT).

"Barely There er min første solo i fuld længde, som jeg har skabt i mit sidste studieår. Det er en reaktion på de forhold/det miljø, som jeg befinder mig i som danser og koreograf: først som fuldtidsstuderende og nu, hvor jeg skal navigere i en ny rolle som freelancekunstner. Men det er måske også en undskyldning for at fortsætte med at arbejde uden at arbejde."

Barely There is a choreographic study of the body’s relationship to the existing objects around the performer, such as chairs, balls and gymnastic equipment, in addition to the music, movements and images. Barely There is a devised solo by Denise Lim with a personal tale of rethinking and -negotiating one’s relationship with dancing. This experimental work, inspired by Denise Lim’s own conditions as a dancer and choreographer, questions how one’s work can involve many different activities at the same time. Barely There discusses how surroundings and circumstances have an impact on the work process and creation of a work.
Denise Lim was born and educated as a dancer and choreographer in Singapore as well as from the Danish School of Performing Arts. In 2019 she received a danceWEB scholarship as a part of ImPulsTanz in Vienna. Denise has among others, worked with Ingri Fiksdal (NO), Tina Tarpgaard (DK) and Alix Eynaudi (FR/AT).

"Barely There is the first full-length solo I conceived in my final year of school. It is a reaction to the conditions/environment that I find myself in as a dancer and choreographer: first as a full-time student and now navigating a new role as a freelance artist. But it is also perhaps an excuse to continue working without working."
