At Selected Works – From the Independent Field of Performing Arts, we have made a targeted effort to present different formats, genres and forms of expression from the stage-artistic scene. The purpose of the festival is to give visibility to the stage-artistic value, the societal necessity and the national and international impact of independent performing arts. At the festival, both younger and more experienced performers with different backgrounds, references, skills and experimental forms of expression will be introduced. For example, their backgrounds are in choreography, physical theater, stage-artistic texts, performance, sound art and visual art.
The festival is a necessary platform for the independent performing arts as long as there is no curated scene for guest performances in Copenhagen. The program for the festival is organized by a three-person curator of the year, which this year consists of choreographer and performer Mette Ingvartsen, dramatist and dramaturg Gritt Uldall-Jessen, and director and performer Erik Pold, who have worked together to find ten productions among the sixtysix proposals that were submitted.
Selected Works – From the Independent Scene of Performing Arts first took place in 2014. So far it has taken place four times and has presented more than 60 pieces of works from the independent scene of performing arts. This year is the fifth edition of the festival and it will take place at Corpus in A-Salen, Hofteatret and in Koncertkirken at Blågårdsplads as well as at other site specific locations.
